Ur-food, a glimpse of the past

Here’s a photo of what I think was probably one of the first grain foods.  It always sends tingles up my spine.  I’ll explain in a day or so when I’ve said a bit more about which came first,  beer or bread.

    Hopefully it doesn’t TASTE like sand…

    I once came across some old hypothesis that grain could have be an important part of the human diet before flour (e.g. because human hand dexterity could pick up seeds quick enough to be worth it). I think the essay was called “The Seed Eaters.” Do you have any idea if people ate grains much before they learned to make flour out of it?
