A Fine Wine or a Child’s Life?

That’s the question posed by Princeton ethicist Peter Singer in his new book.  Here’s Easterly’s review.

My thoughts?  That would need a longer and more reasoned discussion. Let’s just say I am not in general persuaded by Singer.  And I think giving to charity is very, very tricky.  But those are just promissory notes.

    As you know I am wary of non-profits just as much any other types of organizations. Be careful about reading past their P.R. campaigns and rhetoric. Ask for their track record, successful case studies if they’re new, who’s doing the actual work, etc..
