Catering for a Hindu 60th Birthday

Published June 8, 2008 by Rachel Laudan

An interesting post on a Hindu 60th birthday celebration including reference to the catering.  A hundred events in one location every day (there appears to be some doubt about whether it’s a temple or a private facility) and one to two hundred people at each.  This includes a meal, service, ritual baths, elephant and cow worship.  Move over American conference hotels.

The catering at Hindu pilgrimage temples appears to be an equally interesting phenomenon.  I’d love to know more about the mechanics.
