A Welcome Idea: Basic Groceries outside Immigration and Customs

Published February 23, 2008 by Rachel Laudan

As you leave immigration and customs coming into Gatwick Airport in London, you now pass a Marks and Spencers grocery store. It’s small and doesn’t have everything. But it has a selection of their “ready meals” which are really pretty good, bread, milk, butter, and other such basics.

So returning from your business trip or holiday, you whiz through, pick up a bagful, and when you get home you don’t have to slog out again to the convenience store.

As one who’s often slogged out, I think this is a nifty idea. Thanks to my sister for alerting me to this.
